EOZ Immersive Gloves: A Huge Update

Hi, I’m Brad

I am here to preview the newest version of our EOZ Immersive Gloves, which we’ll be showing off at the Tokyo Game Show later this week.

This is the culmination of everything we learned from last year's TGS, where we received a large amount of feedback. After months of silence, sweat, and tears, we finally have a lot to share on how we made huge improvements to every major issue we ran into!

Durability Improvements

So much of our progress was related to solving the biggest problem (and fear) we had after demoing the gloves to a wide variety of users: durability.

As a reminder, the finger tracking in our gloves works via an array of IMUs in the joints of each digit, giving our product a wide range of both finger splay 🖐 and curl ✊.

Our immediate benefit from doing this was that it simplified the electronics inside our glove, allowing us to use extremely thin, lightweight material in the fabric routed with thin wires. While this was true, the potential for the IMU wiring to break was very high. Since users of our other products tend to be highly active, we knew this had to be resolved.

In the picture above, you can see that we have switched from simple wires to flexible PCBs, and we are very confident that our durability issues have disappeared.

Controller Input

Many people asked about using the gloves for VR titles other than VRChat, which would require more fidelity than gestures alone could accomplish.

Diver-X is one of the top companies who have been shipping VR gloves to customers for years now. They reached out to us, wondering if we were interested in adding support for their Magnetra2 controller

We are proud to announce that we have done just that. The glove will be able to be demoed at TGS with or without the attachment. For those who will not be in Japan, check out the video below, where the finger tracking from the glove still actively demonstrates its fidelity while interacting with the Magnetra2's joystick.

We have also extended our collaboration with Diver-X in multiple areas to improve our product. You can probably already tell this from the fabric and glove design we are using in these prototypes. More on this deeper collaboration will be announced soon.

More to Come

Beyond the many refinements to the gloves, we have also been talking to various glove makers and tech companies to add compatibility with their products. We have much more to share, but we want to wait until the public tries the new version at Tokyo Game Show before revealing more.

Thank you so much for your support and patience! We look forward to getting these on your hands as soon as possible.
