Immersive Gloves: Beginning the Final Countdown

Hi, I’m Brad

Last month, I talked about the many updates we’ve made to our Immersive Gloves project — and promised we’d have even more to share after demoing the latest version publicly at Tokyo Game Show 2025.

After showing the newest build to more than 250 Japanese consumers, we’re thrilled to report that this project is nearing an official release!

Read on to learn about the final tweaks leading up to our public beta and release timeline, right after the image break:

The IntoFree + EOZ booth was buzzing with activity throughout the entire event.

We showed off our “Skeleton Hands” prototype and demoed one fully assembled pair of gloves.

That single pair held strong for the entire event — a huge accomplishment for our team!

Last year’s TGS was a humbling experience.
We took a wild approach: bring just one pair of gloves to the show and see how long they would last.

Our thinking was simple — if dozens of attendees could wear, stress-test, and remove the gloves over five-minute intervals, it would simulate the kind of wear-and-tear we’d expect from a VR enthusiast at home.

Back then, our Pre-Alpha prototype couldn't survive less than 100 users.

This year, our latest version lasted the entire show, with over 250+ users AND made the trip back to Portugal intact — ready for our talented engineer to make a few final adjustments before factory samples go out.

Final Tweaks Before Production

The final refinements are small but meaningful.
As mentioned previously, our collaboration with Diver-X has allowed us to integrate their Magnetra Controller as an optional input device. Diver-X has agreed to make a slight improvement to ensure optimal input performance — this updated version will likely be known as Magnetra 2.5. More on that in a later update

Meanwhile, our factory is implementing a physical adjustment: we’re repositioning the thumb IMU sensor from the top of the digit to the side edge. We have full finger splay 🖐 AND curl being tracked on each finger. With the thumb, we felt it wasn't showing the full fidelity compared to the other fingers. This small change will dramatically improve the thumb’s movement range in VR — making gestures look and feel smoother.

Even though we weren’t sure whether this iteration would pass the “event stress test,” we remained confident that the project was closing in on consumer readiness.

We’ve been working closely with our manufacturing partners to refine the process with each revision — an expensive approach, but one that ensures we’re ready for the final countdown.

These last tweaks won’t take long, and we’re also preparing to send beta glove units to more users than originally planned. Including the exciting fabrics and other synthetic materials that we are confident will impress users on the comfort side of things!

If you’re interested in joining our Hardware Beta Program, make sure you:

  • Use SteamVR Lighthouse tracking regularly

  • Have/Use a Tundra Tracker
  • Are a member of our Discord community

Beta testers will receive their units soon, and we’ll be rewarding participants with a discount on the full retail version.

A Note of Gratitude

A few words about this journey:

Our gloves' lead engineer, Ruben, first brought us a working prototype nearly two years ago. From day one, we were blown away by his passion and inventive design — and invited him to take it further through our ECP (EOZ Community Project) program.

Since then, he and the team have poured countless hours of effort into turning a one-off garage prototype into a reliable, mass-producible device that supports many different users for many hours. That transformation cannot be overstated.

I want to personally thank Ruben — and all the hardware engineers out there pushing innovation forward in today’s challenging landscape. It’s never easy, but your dedication is noticed and deeply appreciated.

And to any hobbyist engineers reading this: don’t lose hope. Keep building, keep iterating, and keep believing in your ideas.

ALSO: Updates on this project will be posted more regularly now that we are on the final phases. Keep an eye on our X account for those updates

As Always, Thank you so much for your support and patience
